You can view the participants out on the course, helps if you’re familiar with the course route. Also you can view the finish at the Tahoe Cross Country/Highlands Community Center 925 Country Club Drive, Tahoe City, 96145.

Bikes will start first, with Elite Course racers placed in front of Classic Course racers. Runners start 10 minutes after, with Elite Course runners  placed in front of Classic Course runners.

Its possible so register early to save your spot and to pay a lower registration fee. Fees are increased on a tiered basis as the event date nears.

Yes, there is a is 5 hour 25 minute cut-off from the final start. Participants must maintain a ≈15 minute per mile average pace to stay ahead of our course sweep. Individuals may still complete the course after these cutoff times but their results will not be officially recorded.

All finishers receive a finishing medal. Top 3 overall male and female will be awarded for all races (Run Elite/Classic, Bike Elite/Classic) and Age Group/Gender awards are provided to the top three finishers in 5-year age divisions.

Results will be tabulated for Division Winners, Family Teams, and Male and Female Age Group Winners for each division: Under 15, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34… and up in 5-year segments.

The use of personal music devices is strongly discouraged at this race. To enjoy all that our race has to offer and for the safety of all participants, we encourage a headphone-free environment during the running of the Great Trail Race.

We believe your race experience and those around you will be greatly enhanced by leaving the headphones at home or in the car. Riding and Running headphone-free allows opportunities to develop camaraderie with your fellow runners and to enjoy everything the race has to offer. Plus, volunteers and spectators will be on course cheering you on and providing directions to help get you to the finish line. Your safety is a top priority. Please be mindful of the other participants and respect the race personnel to ensure a safe and enjoyable race for everyone

No, trails and roads are open to other users and to vehicle traffic.

However, trails and especially roads where the Great Trail Race course travels is minimal during race season. We will place “Notice of Race” signs at strategic trail heads and road areas, and notify the general public prior to the event to help raise the awareness of the trail user community of the event.

The course will be marked with arrows, signage, flagging and course marshals. Examples of the course marking will be shown at packet pickup and during the course meeting.

Dogs are not allowed on the course or at the Start. At the finish venue, if planning to bring a dog with you, a 6′ leash is required as there will be many people moving quickly through the event.

The Great Trail Race is open to everyone who thinks they can cover the distance in the allotted time.

You can race, run, walk or jog. Note that we stage all participants at the start based on your expected finish time. This question is asked during the registration process. If you plan to walk, you can also choose this option during registration.

Participants will be served lunch and a beverage as part of their entry fee. Food and drink will be available for sale to non-racers.

Your results will be available on the Results board near the finish line at the expo. Also on our result page at https://greattrailrace.com/results/.

Refunds are not available for this event for any reason, including cancellation, inclement weather or athlete injury. We also strictly do not allow athlete-to-athlete transfers, for any reason.

Cancellation Policy:

If the event is NOT sold out, a discount code for 75% of your race registration fee will be offered until 14 days prior to the race date. No discounts codes will be given within 14 days prior to the race date.

If the event IS sold out, a discount code for 100% of your race registration fee will be offered until 21 days prior to the race date.

Discount codes can be used to register for a Big Blue Adventure event (https://www.bigblueadventure.com/events) and will be valid through the following event year.
